Found in Los Angeles County, Temple City is part of a group of cities in the San Gabriel Valley with a growing Asian population. These other cities include, Arcadia, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, and San Marino. The city is also home to large Cuban and Puerto Rican communities. The city has a population of over 35,550 residents as of the 2010 census. Formerly called “The City of Temple,” the postmaster general demanded the city change its name due to confusion with the suburb called Tempe in Phoenix. Today the city is a destination for many immigrants, but mostly Chinese-Americans. Rosemead Boulevard has many strip malls catering to a mostly Asian but entirely diverse customer base.
