Found in Los Angeles County, San Gabriel gets its name from the Mission San Gabriel Arcangel, which was founded by Junipero Serra. The city grew from the mission outward and became the original township of L.A. County in 1852. Incorporate in 1913, on April 24th, its motto is “A city with a Mission”. Often referred to as the “birthplace” of the Los Angeles metropolitan area, San Gabriel is now home to a population of 39,718 residents. The city lies at an elevation of 420 feet and has a very favorable climate, with average monthly temperatures of 71 degrees.
