The city is famous for its large open spaces and views of the Pacific Ocean. It was established by a Mexican land grant in 1846 by Governor Pio Pico to Juan Capistrano Sepulveda and Jose Loreto. Rancho Palos Verdes is beloved for its scenic beauty and views of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Catalina Island.
