Found in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountain range of the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, Monrovia is home to over 36,500 residents as of the 2010 census. The city is a favorite spot for T.V., film, and commercials. Incorporated in 1887, Monrovia began as a community of orange ranches but later grew into a residential area and is one of the oldest incorporated areas in the county today. The home of activist and author Upton Sinclair is found here and is considered a national landmark within city limits. In 1995 the city received the All American City Award given by the National Civic League.
