Found in Los Angeles County, La Verne is a small area but has a population of 31,063 as recorded by the 2010 census. The population has slowly been decreasing since the 2000 census when it was home to 31,638 residents. La Verne was incorporated in 1906, in those days the main source of income for residents were field crops and citrus trees. After the planting of many orchards the area became known as the “Heart of the Orange Empire,” and it was considered as a center of citrus production until after World War II, when the industry began to slowly fade. La Verne's last two orange groves are found on the sites of Heritage Park and the La Verne Mansion.
