Known for being the leading golf destination in all the United States, La Quinta is a resort city found in the Coachella Valley in between Indio and Indian Wells. La Quinta, once thought to be uninhabitable, has become a popular resort destination since the construction of the La Quinta Resort in 1926. The spot was a favored destination for Hollywood celebrities, found in the northern area of Marshall Cove.
Having grown dramatically in the 1980s, La Quinta was eventually incorporated by Riverside County. The city had expanded from just 4,200 people in the 1980s, to over 11,200 by the 1990s. La Quinta is considered to be much more populous than Palm Springs, though less well known.
