An affluent city found in northern Orange County, California, La Palma is home to 15,568 residents as of the 2010 census. In 2013 the city was ranked 31st as “Best place to Live” in the U.S. (among small cities) according to CNN's Money magazine. In 2007, it ranked as 16th best in the country. The ranks were based on the high performing schools, friendly neighborhoods, low crime rates, and lowest police response time in the County of Orange. Incorporated in 1955, on October 26th, it was originally known as Dairyland and was one of three dairy cities in the area. Now the city gets its name from its Spanish history and the La Palma Avenue, its main thoroughfare.
