With a population of only 219, Industry is the site of over 2,500 businesses and employer to more than 80,000 jobs for the public. It's known officially as The City of Industry because nearly all of the area is made up of industrial sites. There are far more businesses here than there are residential properties. The City of Industry was incorporated in 1957 in order to keep the neighboring areas from annexing its industrial sites for tax revenue. The city is home to various company headquarters such as Newegg.com, Alta Dena, DirecTV, FedEx, and Yum Yum Donuts. The city provides a large percentage of revenue to the Southern California economy.
