Found in Orange County, California, Fountain Valley is home to 55,313 residents as recorded by the 2010 census. Known as a classic bedroom community, Fountain Valley is a mostly middle-class residential city. Incorporated in 1957, the city was previously known as Talbert. The city's name refers to the area's high water tables during the time its name was chosen. The area was also the site of many artesian wells. Because of the vast availability of water, agriculture was the main industry in the area up until the 1960s, when many housing tracts began to fill the area. After the Fall of Saigon, thousands of Vietnamese refugees flocked to the state of California, settling predominantly in Fountain Valley from the 70s through the 80s.
