El Cajon is a town surrounded by mountains, its name meaning “the big box” in Spanish. With a population of 99,478 as of the 2010 census, El Cajon is part of San Diego County and has been estimated to have expanded to over 100,460 during 2013. The area is popular because of its temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters, boasting average temperatures of about 55 to 70 degrees.
Formerly a ranch city, El Cajon became incorporated in 1912 and is known by the title “Valley of Opportunity”. Citizens enjoy local farmers markets and other shopping establishments in the area regularly. The city is a favorite spot for Californians who enjoy both rural and urban features of the landscape.
