Part of the greater Los Angeles County area of Riverside County, Calimesa is home to a population of 7,879 residents as recorded in the 2010 census. Incorporated in 1990 on December 1st, Calimesa is located in the San Gorgonio Pass with an elevation of over 2,390 feet. The city began expanding after the State Route 10 was constructed, formerly referred to as U.S. Route 99. The city was founded shortly after the construction of the early Spanish missions in Alta. Calimesa continues to expand today, experiencing a population boom triggered by the development of new housing communities throughout the area.
