Named after Phineas Banning, the so called “Father of the Port of Los Angeles”, a stagecoach line operator, the city of Banning is home to over 29,600 people as recorded in the 2010 census. The city is found in Riverside County, along the San Gorgonio Pass, or “Banning Pass”. Banning lies beside the 10 Freeway, south of the Morongo Reservation. The geography of the area is shared by its neighbor city of Beaumont, they also share a rapid population growth that began early 90s. Banning is the last largest city along the way east on the 10 Freeway, it's connected by both railroad and freeway.
