Known as the Gateway city, Artesia was incorporated in 1959 and is port of Los Angeles County. The city has a population of 16,522 according to the 2010 census, and is host to the East West Ice Palace, an ice rink which draws many locals and those from out of town for winter sports and ice skating, one of the towns most popular destinations.
Artesia's most well known landmark is the historical Artesia Water Tower, which is capable of storing up to 50,000 gallons of water for residents. The city is currently in the process of declaring the Water Tower an official historical landmark. Artesia is also home to a public museum which has been renovated from a Spanish style home from the past era and is now open to the public.
